Frequently Asked Questions

When do I book a newborn session? Newborn sessions should be booked sometime in the second trimester. At that time you get your name and due date onto my calendar. Once your newborn comes we get in contact and schedule the time and date for the newborn session!

Where and when does the newborn session take place? Your newborn session takes place in the comfort of your own home and is best held anywhere from 5-21 days after baby is born. Babies are often sleepy and enjoy being wrapped up and cozy in the newborn wraps and props that I bring to the session.

Do I need to prepare my house for the newborn shoot? Nope! I can’t image anything worse than having a brand new baby then coming home to clean my house. For the session I will bring a portable studio and lighting to take all the babies newborn portraits, I’ll set this up in any open space in the home. For family shots including sibling shots we will pick 1-2 rooms around the home with good natural light. In these room I just ask that you clear away some of the clutter or distracting items that you wouldn’t want seen in your photos. Usually we can just move these into a closet or in the hall and them plop them right back into the room after.

How long does a newborn session take? Newborn sessions take about 2-2.5 hours for newborn portraits and about 1 hour for the family and sibling shots. During the shoot we follow babies lead and take any breaks that the baby or mama need to feed, cuddle, or soothe baby so there is absolutely no stress!

How much does a newborn session cost? A newborn session fee is $250, this is due at booking to reserve your spot on my calendar and covers the cost of the time and travel for the shoot, all the props, wraps, and sets used for the session as well as talent of the photographer. Once you receive your private gallery (about 2 weeks after the session) you can decide what portrait package will get what you love! Contact me for current investment rates.
